Cal Buchser, aka Uncle Sam, passed on, painless and peaceful, Monday, April 19th at 10:45 a.m. at the home of his son Brad Buchser in Sequim, Washington. Cal is survived and deeply missed by his four children Beverly Niezgoski, Brenda Bedrosian, Bruce Buchser, and Brad Buchser, his 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Cal was born to Hans and Lillian Buchser in Seattle, Washington, on August 1, 1923. After 3 yrs in Leyte, Philippines during World War II, he married his high school sweetheart Eleanor Hartt, Sept 17, 1946.
They honeymooned in Southern California and never left Southern California during their 62-year marriage.
In addition to his extended family, the activities he loved included Semi-Pro baseball, men’s softball, coaching women’s softball, Little League baseball, umpiring men’s softball, tennis, the beach, and becoming a Navy Seabee certified heavy equipment operator during World War II and his Uncle Sam role for specific events in Lake Arrowhead Village.
Cal made it known that he loved the Lord Jesus Christ and loved Lake Arrowhead; serving his savior most of his adult life and employed at Lake Arrowhead Village in the maintenance department for approximately 16 yrs, retiring in 2007.
Celebration of Life service will be at Church of the Woods on June 6th @ 2:00 pm.
