Brian Hughes, 44, went to his heavenly home on December 16, 2023, in Perkinston, MS. He was a beloved husband, daddy, son, bubba, respected tradesman, and a Christian.
Brian was born July 22, 1979, in Gulfport, MS.
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Leo and Pauline “Polly” Ladner; his aunt, Cheryl Williams, and his cousin who was like a brother to him, David Crosslin.
Left to cherish precious memories of Brian are the loves of his life; wife Tara and their children Katelyn, Aujuai, Brooklyn, and Elijah. He is also survived by his mother, Claudia Brady; sister, Karren (Jeremy) Nelson; his in laws who considered him like a son; Terry and Elizabeth Odem; sister-in-law, Desiree (Jeremy) Delmas; brother-in-law, Josh (Kaci) Odem; uncle, Marty (Jocelyn) Ladner; and uncle, Michael Williams. Brian also leaves behind nephews, Joel and Aiden Nelson, Jax Delmas, and Joshua Grey Odem; nieces, Gracie Delmas, Lizzy Hayes and Hollis Ann Odem; cousins, Traye, Jared, Brandon W., Brandon P., Brezee, Arabella, Nate and Grady.
Brian often shared his fond memories of his childhood in the Gulfport area where he enjoyed playing basketball and making lifelong friends that he considered his brothers. In high school, Brian attended a youth church camp where he accepted the Lord as his Savior.
Brian graduated from Harrison Central High School in 1997. After high school, his youth pastor’s father introduced him to the trade of plumbing. He worked in this field until he joined the United States Navy in 2003. After his military service, he joined the UA Local 568 Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. At the time of his death, he was employed with Ray C. Weaver Mechanical Contractors where he was greatly admired by his co-workers and fellow tradesman. Brian regularly spoke of the brotherly bond he shared with his co-workers.
Brian was known throughout the coast as a loyal, carefree, and hardworking person. He never turned down an opportunity to help someone in need. What he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family and being a part of his children’s accomplishments. His children knew they could always rely on him.
After the graveside prayer, Tara and his kids would love for everyone to enjoy food and happy memories of Brian at his sister in law’s home, which located next to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James, Taurus, Brian, WeeWee, Babyhead, and Grady. Honorary pallbearer, Traye, Josh, Jeremy, and Jax.
