On June 27, 2021, Bobby Gene Scruggs passed away peacefully following a brief illness.
Born May 26, 1948, he was the son of the late Eldon and Geraldine Jack Scruggs. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Steve Scruggs.
Bobby left a proud legacy of strength, hard work, and dedication. During the Vietnam War, he served his country as a Navy Seabee. He later obtained an associate degree in automotive technology and worked as a diesel mechanic in the coal mines for 25 years. Bobby spent his spare time doing what he loved the most- working on old cars. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and he was good at it. He had several good memories in the garage and at car shows with his friends.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are brothers, Curtis Scruggs (Doris) and Ronnie Scruggs (Essie); a sister, Patricia Deitz; sons, Bob Scruggs (Jennifer) and Chris Scruggs (Katie); grandchildren, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Matthew, and Elias; sister-in-law, Jean Scruggs nieces, Renee Tasker (Matt), Teresa Deitz, and Lisa Bowyer (Gary), and nephews, Joe Deitz and Stephen Scruggs.
As the pillar of his family, Bobby will be dearly missed. His memory will be forever carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville with Mr. John Hamrick officiating. In honor of Bobby’s memory, we ask all attending who have classic cars to please bring them to the service.
