Bobby Gene Williams Obituary

Funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at Crestwood Chapel for Bobby Gene Williams, 85, of Gadsden, who passed away on Aug. 5, 2015. Revs. John Dickerson and Bill Harbison will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge of services.

Bobby (affectionately known as BobBob) was born in Anniston, Ala. He lived his life in Gadsden, graduating from Gadsden High. Bobby served his country as a Navy SeaBee, stationed in the Philippines during the Korean War. As a man of many talents, he worked for L&N Railroad, R&A Electric and retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber with over 35 years of service. Never slowing down, he went almost every day to his farm in Ohatchee, still fencing and tending his cows till the day the Lord took him home. He died suddenly Wednesday, close to his beloved farm. He was a member of East Gadsden Baptist Church, an avid Alabama football and Atlanta Braves supporter.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Ruby D. Williams; brother, Sam M. Williams; and sister, Jane W. Manning.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Glenda S. Williams; children, Kimberly (Robert) Post, Kip (Becky) Williams and Suzie (Andy) Cook; grandchildren, Robert (Julia) Post, John (Jacqueline) Post, William Post, Elyse Post, Kip D. (Lauren) Williams II, Drew (Stefanie) Cook, Kathryn (Jeff) Yarbrough), Sam Cook and Clair (Will) Bingham; great-grandchildren, Harper and Sadie Cook, Rosemary Post and soon-to-be Michael Yarbrough.

Pallbearers will be Robert Post III, John Post, William Post, Kip D. Williams II, Drew Cook, Sam Cook, Jeff Yarbrough and Will Bingham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Billy McDill, Howard Gilbert, John Wiggins, Bill Barnes, Marlon Albright, Larry Busby and his nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Gadsden Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
