Bob E. Dimmitt, 77, of Lake View, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2024. He was born in Seattle, Washington, on July 15, 1947, to Myrvin and Marguerite Dimmitt.
Bob lived a full and vibrant life, with a heart as big as his many accomplishments. He graduated from high school and went on to serve his country as a Navy Seabee from August 4, 1966, to July 24, 1968, a service he held dear for the rest of his life. After returning home, he pursued his passions and became a respected member of the Ephrata community. He served as the Mayor of Ephrata, where he worked tirelessly to make a positive impact, always prioritizing the well-being of those around him. Bob also owned and operated a successful auto body and paint shop, taking great pride in his work for many years.
Bob was an avid fisherman, a talented woodworker, and a skilled motorcycle rider. He found joy in the simple things, whether it was a day on the water, a woodworking project in his shop, or riding motorcycles with his loved ones. His passion for bass fishing was especially strong, and he was known as an amazing fisherman among friends and family.
A devoted and loving husband, Bob married Loretta Benish on September 26, 2015, in Post Falls, Idaho. He was a proud father to his sons, Rob (Linda) of Montana and Shane Dimmitt. He is also survived by his beloved sisters, Irene Rawson of Idaho and Lorence Dimmitt of Seattle, as well as his grandson, Matt Dimmitt, and four great-grandchildren.
Bob’s love for his family, his community, and his faith was unwavering. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Ephrata and was also a dedicated mentor in AA, offering guidance and support to those in need. He touched many lives with his kindness, loyalty, and compassion.
He is deeply loved and will forever be missed by all who knew him. Angels surround you, Bob, until we are together again.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring. Details will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the local chapter of AA, Wounded Wariors or Brothers in Arms.
