Aulden Dean Reynolds of Fairfield passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Clinton, ME. on August 23, 1941, to Elmer “Casey” and Mary (Stewart) Reynolds.
He attended Fairfield schools until he enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC where he earned his High School diploma. After he was discharged, he returned to Fairfield to marry his long-time love, Andrea Grendell on February 9, 1963. They shared 61 years of marriage until his death.
In 1964 he and his step-brother, Dwayne Scanlin, decided they wanted to rejoin the armed services. Dwayne had been in the Navy and was reupping. It sounded good to Aulden so he decided he’d try the Navy. He was stationed at Charleston Naval Shipyard, Charleston, SC. His duty was driver for a Rear Admiral for 14 months. When the Admiral retired Aulden requested to be transferred into a SeaBee unit, and was stationed in Davisville, RI. where he joined MCB#7. His last deployment was to Vietnam which changed his life and health forever.
He gave 36 years to the Fairfield Fire and Rescue Department serving as Deputy Chief for several years. He was instrumental along with Dwayne Scanlin and Darrell Benner in starting the Rescue Department. He was always involved in both.
He worked 16 years at Keyes Fibre, then had multiple jobs, including several years at Mardens. Right after the flood of 1987 he and his wife bought “Sweets Lunch” on Main Street in Fairfield which they operated as “A & A Family Restaurant.” This closed in 1995 due to his ill health.
