In loving memory of Arthur Ben “Skip” Parr, 75, of Marshfield, Missouri, born on January 8, 1949, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to Edgar and Faye (Telaar) Parr. Arthur peacefully departed this life on February 5, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Faye Parr, his son Paul Alan Parr Sr., and grandson Paul Alan Parr II.
Arthur is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Tamara, his son Ethan Parr (Sarah), and grandsons Calvin Parr, Declan Parr, and Gabriel Parr. He is also survived by two brothers, John Parr and Glenn Parr (Diane), along with a multitude of cherished family and friends.
Throughout his life, Arthur navigated various career paths. Initially, Arthur proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy SeaBees -MCB71 during the Vietnam War, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Next, he ventured into entrepreneurship as a custom jeweler. Later, he transitioned into a role as a certified electrician, showcasing his adaptability to new challenges. In 2014, Arthur retired from American Family Insurance, marking the conclusion of a dedicated professional chapter.
While his military service was distinct from his later pursuits, Arthur’s post-Navy years saw him transform into an avid aviation enthusiast. Discovering joy in flight added a unique dimension to his multifaceted personality. Always striving for improvement for himself and his family, Arthur frequently undertook new projects and devised innovative solutions from his unending project list. A true family man at heart, and so proud to be a Grandad to his grandsons, Arthur consistently put his loved ones first.
A brief memorial service to celebrate the life of Arthur Ben “Skip” Parr will be held on March 4, 2024, at 10 am at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 Southwood Rd., Springfield, MO. The family has requested no flowers.
