Antone David Viera, known affectionately as Dave or David, was born on December 13, 1945, in Fall River, Massachusetts. He spent his formative years in Mattapoisett, MA, where he was raised by Jessie and James Hubbard alongside their three sons and daughter, whom Dave came to regard as his own siblings.
In his twenties, Dave answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. Stationed in Port Hueneme, CA, and attached to a Seabee unit, he embarked on a journey that would shape the course of his life. It was during this time that Dave met Hope, a woman with three small children who would soon become his wife. Together, they welcomed another daughter, Lisa, into their growing family.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy, Dave and Hope settled in Oxnard, where they raised their four children. Dave’s commitment to providing for his family led him to a career with Vetco, an offshore drilling company. When Vetco closed its doors, Dave transitioned to working with the labor union in Ventura, CA.
In 2007, Dave and Hope embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Las Vegas, NV. There, Dave continued working with the local union until his well-earned retirement. However, retirement did not mean idleness for Dave. Until his passing, he found joy and purpose as a crossing guard for the Clark County School District for six years, ensuring the safety of countless children.
Dave’s life was further enriched by his two other children, Kristine and David Jr., from a previous marriage. His love for all his children was a cornerstone of his life. Dave’s passion for life extended beyond his family. He was an avid sports enthusiast, never missing a chance to cheer on his favorite teams. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of walking and taking his grandchildren on hikes during traditional family gatherings in the park.
As we bid farewell to Antone David Viera, we celebrate a life well-lived – a life marked by service, love, and unwavering dedication to family. Dave’s legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and the countless lives he touched as a father, friend, veteran, and community member. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
