Mr. Anthony J. Vivone

Date of birth 06/13/1933
Date of passing 01/10/2026

Anthony J. Vivone, born and raised in the Bronx, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10th. He joins his loving wife of 51 years, Jan. Anthony is survived by his daughters Loriann and Toni Marie, and their husbands Jerry and Ray; his sister Rosemarie; 6 grandchildren, Nikki (Jack), Michelle, Janine (Greg), Matt (Rachel), Marisa, and Vinny (Idamarie); and 11 great-grandchildren.

Anthony was a man of strength and loyalty, whose tough exterior hid his soft side of love and commitment to his family and friends. He served as Seabee in the U.S. Navy, proudly telling of his repairing of the U.S.S. Intrepid. After his tour in the Navy, while he was working as a “soda jerk” at Fritz’s candy store, he met and married the “checker at Daitch next door.” They moved to Yates Avenue and later bought a house on Lurting Avenue, where they formed lasting friendships with people who became family. Together they enjoyed dances, picnics, trips to Atlantic City, and going to baseball games.

His love of baseball began as a kid from the Bronx, playing in the Police Athletic League, and was strengthened when he saw Babe Ruth. He and his wife Jan (possibly a bigger Yankee fan than he) enjoyed their trips to see Thurman Munson (his favorite player), Derek Jeter, and other Yankee greats. They passed their love of the game on to their children and grandchildren, always giving them a shared interest to talk about.

Although he will be missed, it is comforting to know that he is reunited with Jan, his family and all his friends from Yates and Lurting Avenues.
