Andrew D. Lynn, 67, formerly of Tyrone, passed away Tuesday after a brief illness. He was born at Altoona Hospital, a son of Robert S. and Marjorie V. Lynn.
On July 8, 1991, he married the love of his life, Pamela McClaskey, in Williamsburg, Va. They shared 33 years of marriage.
Surviving are his wife; stepson, Michael (Jennifer) Young; grandson, Brenden; two sisters, Jeanne (Creig) Batcheler of Pittsburgh and Roberta Lynn of Tyrone; and a brother, Jerald Lynn of Tyrone.
In his early teens he could be seen riding his unicycle around East Tyrone. He was a member of Troop 27 BSA and an active member of Citizens Fire Company for many years.
Andy graduated from Tyrone Area High School in 1975 where he played football and was co-captain his senior year.
After graduation, he served proudly with the U.S. Navy Seabees. He was a member of the Tyrone American Legion for more than 45 years. He held many offices, including commander, and still served on the board of directors.
Andy was an operating room nurse for 38 years. He stayed at Mercy Altoona, which became Bon Secours. Later, it became Altoona Hospital, then UPMC when he retired from the surgery center, where he enjoyed taking care of his patients.
Friends will be received from 4 until the 6 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone. Private interment will be made at Eastlawn Cemetery in Tyrone.
