Final Salute

Alvin Charles Longman Formerly of Fort Myers – Alvin was born June 10, 1926, to Wilford and Laura Longman of Henry, IL. Alvin married Margaret Heller on January 24, 1954 at Geneseo Grace EUB Church.

Alvin enlisted in the Navy December 15, 1944. He served with the Seabees at Pearl Harbor until his honorable discharge on August 1, 1946.

Alvin and Margaret had four children: Dale, Douglas (Linda), Diane (Howard) Coopmans, and Doreen Linderman (Corey Buescher); seven grandchildren: Adam (Elena), Kathryn, Brooke (Tom) Moore, Elizabeth (Kevin) Carlson, Alissa Linderman (Adam Jacobs), Rachel (Jack) Melamed, and Ryan Coopmans (Michelle Abramczyk); and six great-grandsons: Owen Jacobs, Turner Longman, Preston Moore, Ezra Longman, Becker Moore, Asher Longman.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Darrell and Donald; son, Dale; and granddaughter, Kathryn.

The family will host a visitation Friday, May 5, 2023 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E Gartner Road, Naperville, IL 60540.
