Mr. Alan Eugene Zinz

Alan Eugene Zinz, 77, of North Odgen, Utah passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah. He formerly lived in Dempseytown, Pennsylvania. Born on March 12, 1948, in Oil City, PA. Alan was the son of Jerold Zinz and the late Ethel Gegogeine Zinz. Alan was a 1967 graduate of Rocky Grove High School in Rocky Grove, PA. After graduation, Alan enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served as a Seabee in Vietnam. He married his high school sweetheart Patricia Kalamajka on September 21, 1968. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Washington, D.C. LDS Temple on September 3, 1977. After his service in the Navy, he worked at the Pennzoil Refinery in Pennsylvania for 30 years, retiring as an industrial electrician. Alan enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycles. He was a devoted husband and father of 8 children. He enjoyed vacationing with his family visiting many states and national parks. He fell in love with Utah and eventually moved there in 2006. Alan was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served faithfully in many church callings, including his time as Bishop of the Franklin, PA LDS church. He had a great love for the Savior. Alan was known for his generosity in helping others in times of need. Alan is survived by his dad, Jerold Zinz, wife Patricia, daughters Debbie (Bill) Barney of Pahrump NV, Connie (Ken) Fry of Seneca PA, his sons Steve (Tammy) of Hurricane UT, Jason of Sandy UT, Dan (Dana) of Mountain Green UT and Jeffrey (Fiancé Olivia) of Lehi UT, his five grandsons and four great grandsons. Alan is also survived by his brother Mike (Sandy) of MO. and sister Mary (Harold) Howard of NC. He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel, brother Tim and sons Shawn and Joseph. Alan will be missed deeply by his family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Myers Funeral Home at 845 Washinton Blvd. Odgen, Utah, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. The funeral will be held at the North Ogden 4 th ward LDS Church at 1791 North 600 East, North Ogden, Utah, on Friday, October 10, 2025,11:00a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral at 10a.m. –10:45a.m. Funeral Interment with military honors will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, UT. The family wishes to thank the wonderful and dedicated Applegate Hospice staff, along with George E. Wahlen Veterans Home for their love and care provided.
