Stephen F. Lotterhand, Sr. Obituary
Stephen F. Lotterhand, Sr. of New London, NH, passed away May 14, 2019 with his wife, Mary Lou, by his side at Dartmouth Hitchcock Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born on June 25, 1942 in Boston, MA, Stephen was the son of the late Frederick L. and Dorothy D. (McGee) Lotterhand.
Stephen grew up in Westwood, MA and moved to Laconia, NH in 1958, graduating from Laconia High School in 1960. After which he attended Tufts University graduating in 1964 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation,
Stephen served in the US Navy Civil Engineering Corps, with his final tour of duty in Vietnam.
After leaving the Navy as Lt. Commander, he attended and graduated from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1971. Stephen worked for the Army Corp of Engineers at CRREL in Hanover, NH and in Washington, D.C. and after retirement, he worked for Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
Stephen and his wife Mary Lou raised their family in Lebanon, NH before retiring to New London, NH. They enjoyed traveling, making several cross-country trips, spending time in Washington, D.C., Maine and Quebec. For hobbies, he enjoyed reading, sailing and flying, earning his private pilot’s license. He was a wonderful, quiet, loving man with a dry sense of humor who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren during retirement.
Stephen leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou (Bolduc), his children Marcelline and her husband John Murray of Tiverton, RI, Stephen Jr. and his wife Christine of Reading, MA, Elizabeth and her husband Brian McKeen of Bow, NH, Matthew and his wife Sarah of Hanover, NH, and ten grandchildren; Devin and Patrick Murray; Madeline Lotterhand; Lauren, Courtney, Kristen, and Meghan McKeen; and Maya, Lucia, and Leo Lotterhand. He also leaves behind a brother Mark Lotterhand of Hooksett, NH and a sister Nancy Jay of Raymond, NH, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by a sister Susan Lotterhand and a brother John Lotterhand.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 21st at 11am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 724 Main Street, New London, NH. Following the service will be a burial, with military honors, at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH at 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations to be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at DHMC.
