LT Brent K. Mandry

Lieutenant

Date of birth 10/02/1940
Date of passing 09/15/2024

Brent K. Mandry passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 15th 2024, at the age of 83. He is survived by his children, Grace and Sam, his brothers Gary E. and Steven D (Lee). His nephew Mike and his wife Laura, their children, Nick, Evan, Will, and Joe, and his niece Kellie.

Brent was the oldest son of Evan Burton Mandry and Ina Florene Mandry (nee King). He was born in Moberly, Missouri and raised in Ferguson. He spent most of his life as a resident of Greater St. Louis. Brent pursued his education at the University of Kansas, completing a bachelor””s degree in architecture. He remained an avid KU fan throughout his life. He could always be counted on to make a cutting remark whenever he saw memorabilia from rival school, Kansas State.

A proud Navy veteran, Brent was an officer in the SeaBees Construction Battalion, reaching the rank of lieutenant. He served in the Vietnam War until 1967, he was honorably discharged with medals for Service and firearms skill. Serving in the Navy allowed him to see the world, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, Cuba, and Morocco. One of his favorite stories to tell was wandering through a kasbah in Marrakech and seeing the vendor switch between multiple languages instantaneously.

His travels didn’t end there. Brent spent many years traveling with his family to National Parks and foreign countries. The highlight of his trips was always seeing his Navy buddies from his battalion every year at the Preakness Stakes in Baltimore. One year, Brent and the group were even interviewed by a local Maryland TV station about their yearly tradition.

He will be missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

His funeral will be held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 110 N. Warson Road, Ladue, MO 63124. Visitation will begin at 12 noon, followed by a funeral service at 1pm, and a reception after the service.
