Canandaigua – Robert A. Eisenberg, age 76, passed away at home, on Monday, February 13, 2023. Bob was born in Rochester and was the son of Robert H. and Elizabeth (Head) Eisenberg. He graduated from Greece Olympia High School, class of 1964. He immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in active duty on two different destroyers during the Vietnam War. After completing his 4-year enlistment, Bob was honorably discharged, met and married Melanie, and had three of the best sons that parents could ever wish for. He began his civilian employment as a lineman with RG&E, also enrolling in adult education classes at RIT and joining the Naval Reserves as a Seabee. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from RIT, and was promoted to Electrical Engineer at RG&E. He retired in 2003 after a 35 year career there. Bob had also been commissioned an Ensign in the Naval Reserve and continued his faithful service to his country in a number of Naval Mobile Construction Battalions. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander in 2008, after 33 years Navy Proud! Bob was a life member of the Canandaigua VFW. He enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events, playing softball on the RG&E team, golfing, and college sports. Most of all, Bob enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Bob will be forever missed by his loving wife of 53 years, Melanie Eisenberg; three sons, Patrick and Jeremy Eisenberg, Nathan (Sara) Eisenberg; three grandchildren, Madison, Mason and Michael; five siblings Linda (John) Herman, Nancy Anselmo, Mary Beth (Ken) Zanni, Kevin (Susan) Eisenberg and John (Lori) Eisenberg; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Frank Anselmo in 2012.
Friends may call Friday, February 17, from 4-7pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Private interment with military honors will be in Marion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the FF Thompson Foundation, for activities at Ferris Hills and Clark Meadows, 350 Parrish St., Canandaigua, NY 14424.
