Bernard G. MacDougall, 75, of Montour Falls, NY, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020 in his home. He was born in Montour Falls on May 24, 1944, the son of Cyrus Earl MacDougall and Catharine May MacDougall and graduated from Odessa Central School. On January 1, 1966, he married Kathleen A. Crispell in Watkins Glen, NY. Bernie served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War.

Bernie was a cub scout since grade school and remained involved in scouts through the years. Bernie worked for New York Telephone Company (Verizon) from 1969-2005. He was a member of Communication Workers of America and a member of the Odessa Baptist Church. Bernie joined the Odessa Fire Department in May of 1976. He was a member of the Schuyler County Firefighters Association. He was the President of the Odessa Fire Department from 1992-2015 and was Vice President from 2015 until his passing. He was predeceased by his parents, Cyrus MacDougall in 1994, Catharine MacDougall in 1998, and by a son, Patrick O’Rourke of Birchardbille, PA in 2004.

Surviving is his wife of 54 years, Kathleen A. MacDougall; two daughters, Penny (Scott) Sesher of Raymour, MO and Danielle MacDougall of Montour Falls; two sons, Michael MacDougall of Horseheads and Earl MacDougall of Montour Falls; sister, Virginia Fisher of Horseheads; brother, Lauren MacDougall of Millport; and five grandchildren.
