Final Salute

Larry Devorn Lauderdale went home to JESUS peacefully on November 18, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was 68 years old.

Larry was born February 23, 1956 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Clarence and Allena Lauderdale. He was raised in Covert, Michigan with his brother, who proceeded him in death, Clarence (Cheryl) Lauderdale, Jr and sister Selena Mae (Lauderdale) Randall.

Larry attended Covert High School where he excelled in both academics and sports. He graduated valedictorian of the Class of 1974 and lettered in basketball, which was his favorite sport.

Larry Lauderdale joined the U.S. Navy Seabees in April 1976. Rising to the top of the enlisted ranks, Larry retired as Command Master Chief Equipmentman (E9) in August 1998. He later returned to college and completed his bachelor’s degree in theology at Liberty University.

Larry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age, continuing on in the ministry throughout his adult life. He served as a faithful usher at Dominion Christian Center in Virginia Beach for 17 years.

Left to cherish the memory of this greatly loved man is his high school sweetheart and wife of 49 years, Karen Michelle. Their blessed union brought about three children: Lawrence (Cynthia) Lauderdale, Lamar (Jeana) Lauderdale, and Kionna Lauderdale; grandchildren Phantasia, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Azariah, Xavier, and Alexander; and great grandchildren Aaliyah, Daryl, Destiny, and Alina.
