Final Salute

Thomas P. Bruns, age 81 of New Paris, Ohio died Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at his residence. Tom was born on August 10, 1943, in Winterset, Iowa to the late Paul H. & Arleta M. (Cox) Bruns. He was a 1961 graduate of Winterset High School and served in the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion Division “SeaBee” from 1961 to 1966.

Upon returning home from the military, Tom moved to New Paris, Ohio to work in his Uncle George Cox’s business where he met June E. Henderson and married her on November 28, 1964.

Tom worked at Belden Wire and Cable in Richmond, Indiana for 38 years, retiring in 2003. He enjoyed woodworking, boating and racing jet boats with his family. He had attended many area car shows with “Old Blaze”.

Preceded in death by an infant sister: Sandra Kay.

Survived by his wife of 60 years: June E. Bruns; Children: Skip, Lisa, Chris (Cheryl), Michele (Kenny); several grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister: Marcia (Jim) McKinney; and several nephews.

Graveside service with Navy Honors will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Spring Lawn Cemetery – New Paris, Ohio.
