Paul William Blow, 78, of Ashford, CT, passed away on August 27, 2024, in Willimantic, CT. Born on August 1, 1946, in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Theron and Barbara (Mack) Blow.
Paul proudly served in the United States Naval Construction Battalions, better known as the Navy Seabees, during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He valiantly served in Da Nang, Vietnam during the Tet Offensive, one of the largest military campaigns of the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a noteworthy career, dedicating 26 years to the Southern New England Telephone company before retiring in the late 1990s. He also worked as an independent contractor, utilizing his own truck and tools for telephone subcontracting. His commitment to community service was evident through his 22 years as an Auxiliary State Trooper and his tenure as a Constable for the Town of Ashford.
A graduate of Marianapolis Prep School in 1964, Paul was a man of many interests and passions. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and the American Legion. An avid car and engine enthusiast, he also had a keen interest in World War 2 history. Paul was a passionate fan of the University of Connecticut Huskies Women’s Basketball team, following their games with great enthusiasm.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carol (Larcheveque) Blow; daughters, Alyson and Ben Bahr of Southern Pines, NC, Cara and Christopher Williams of Westerly, RI, Paula and Brian Blood of Coventry, CT; a sister, Beverly Mack and brother-in-law Robert Henry; grandchildren, Jacob and Jesse Tingley, and Malachy and Savannah Blood; and his cherished furry friends, Diego and Harry.
Paul’s life was marked by his patriotism, hard work, intelligence, creativity, and pride. He will be remembered as a devoted family man and a proud veteran, whose legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 6, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Mill Brook Place, 1267 Main Street, Coventry, CT 06238.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Companions Animal Sanctuary in Ashford, CT, honoring Paul’s love for animals.
