Wledon Kent Huston Obituary
Weldon Kent Huston died in Fairfax, Virginia on January 20, 2019 at the age of 82.
Kent was born on September 28, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Oxon Hill High School in 1956 and attended Purdue University from 1956-1958.
As a member of the Marine Corps Reserve, in 1966 Kent volunteered to serve in the Vietnam War with the Combat Engineers. During this time he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. In February of 1978 he joined the Navy Seabee Reserves and retired as a Senior Chief in 1989.
Kent Huston was a Crane Operator and active member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 77. He was also an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7916 in Occoquan, Virginia, serving as the Post Commander from 1979-1980.
He will always be remembered as an avid fisherman who loved spending time in the outdoors, canoeing, camping, and listening to the sounds of nature.
Kent is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Bolte Huston; four children, George Thomas Tuck. Jr., Melissa Belleman, Diana Cunningham and Lora Loconti; and nine grandchildren, Kristen, Caroline, Wesley, Annette, Samantha, KJ, Morgan, Mason and Quinn.
The family will be receiving friends and family on Friday, January 25 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services with military honors will be held at Ft. Myer Chapel on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 1:00pm with interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in Kent’s name to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
