Raymond V. Corbett Obituary

Raymond V. Corbett, 94, longtime resident of Guilford and Boynton Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on, November 21, 2017 at Whitney Manor with additional care by Masonicare Hospice.

Ray was born Nov. 5, 1923 in New Haven, to the late John and Mary Smith Corbett.

Father of Stephen (Anna Dye) Corbett of Jamestown, RI, Pamela Corbett (Bill Mahon) of Guilford, Michael Corbett (Sandy) of Cheshire, Liz Corbett of Guilford and the late William Corbett.

Predeceased by his former wife, Betty Corbett and his three brothers: Jack, Robert and Eddie Corbett.

Also survived by seven grandchildren: Brian (Kerrie) and Sarah; Jake; Kelly and Donald; Megan and Ben; and two great grandchildren: Braiden and Kailee.

Mr. Corbett served in the Navy during World War II, stationed in the South Pacific. He worked as an auditor for Metro North Railroad for 43 years.

Ray was most at home on the water and was well known at the Guilford Town Marina where he moored his boat. He was a commercial lobsterman and an avid fisherman for all of his life. After retiring he developed a passion for sailing and crewed on many long and short voyages.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours on Wed. Nov. 29 from 5 – 8 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. A special thank you to Sandy Corbett for the special care provided in the past few years. Burial will be private.
