Final Salute

Maurice “Reecie” Wilton Cummings, 78, of Waterloo, and husband of the late Rebecca Stone Cummings, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Piedmont Post Acute, succumbing to military related issues.
Maurice was born on June 3, 1947, to the late Furman David and Margie Wardell Cummings. He served his country in the United States Navy and was a Pipe Welder for Local Union 421 and was an avid outdoorsman.
Maurice is survived by a daughter, Denise Cummings and a stepson, Jay Earl Campbell; siblings, Michael David Cummings (Deborah), Gary Randolph Cummings, and Jane Watson; a brother-in-law, Danny Smith; nieces and nephews, Michael G. Cummings, Josie Parker, Georgina Hanning, David Cummings, Cory Smith, David Smith, and Sean and Melissa Watson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joan Smith.
A graveside service will be held at Rosemont Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, conducted by Rev. Owen McAllister.
