Loyd Elmer Pickett, 87, of Sweet Home died Monday at his home.

He graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1942 and served with the Navy Seabees during World War II. He married Alberta Miller on June 13, 1946.

Loyd was self employed. He worked in construction and logging. He was a member of the Elks, Masons and VFW. He attended the Evangelical Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Loyd is survived by his wife, Alberta; sons Mike and Bob Pickett of Sweet Home; daughters Cindy Bartek of San Diego and Doris Lawrence of Sweet Home; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, three brothers and his parents.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
