Final Salute

Lawrence “Larry” David Fairbairn Jr., age 95, passed away on June 19, 2019 in Springfield, OR. Larry was born on February 29, 1924 to Lawrence and Gladys (Adams) Fairbairn in Pullman, Washington. After receiving his education, Larry enlisted in the US Navy, serving our country in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Larry retired from the Navy as an EOC/E7 and a “Seabee”. Afterwards, he became the district engineer with the National Forest Service. After retiring for a second time, Larry drove tour buses. In his spare time, Larry was a private pilot. He enjoyed hobby trains, exploring beautiful countryside and traveling all over. Larry was an avid reader, a Master Mason, and a Shriner. We was also a part of the Seabee foundation and the VFW. On March 28, 1981 Larry married Helen “Sam” Fairbairn in Las Vegas, NV. Together they enjoyed many wonderful years of marriage. Larry is survived by his wife Helen of McKenzie Bridge, OR. He was preceded in death by his sister Jeraldine Pierce. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11 AM at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 4810 Willamette Street, Eugene, OR 97405. Larry will be laid to rest on Friday, July 12, 2019 at 2 PM at Eagle Point National Cemetery 2763 Riley Rd, Eagle Point, OR 97524
