James “Jim” Russell Anderson passed away peacefully at his home in Ashland, NE on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at the age of 86.

James was born in Florence, NE on January 28th, 1938. He was one of six children. He graduated from Omaha North High school in 1956. He and his family attended Kountze Memorial Church in Omaha, NE where he met and married Phyllis (Vanness) on October 21st, 1961.

Jim served in the Navy Seabee’s for many years. He went on to work for Kiewit, and eventually was a part of the Clear Creek Township where he maintained the roads for many years until he eventually retired.

Jim enjoyed his time with his wife of 63 years traveling and spending time with family and friends. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons, attending grandchildren’s sporting events, and always enjoyed “razzing” anyone with a good line from the show Gunsmoke until the very end.

Jim is survived by his wife Phyllis, sons Dale (wife Teresa), Darren (wife Jerri), and daughter Liz (husband Dave), grandchildren Ashley (husband Nathan), Terra, David, Dylan, Brittany, Shelby, Bailey, and great-grandchildren Kaelyn and Colin.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brothers and sister, daughter Kristine, great-grandchildren Cameron and Calvin.

He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral Service was held Thursday (1/2/25) 10:00 am at Word of Hope Lutheran Church in Ashland, NE. Visitation was held Wednesday (1/1/25) 5-7 pm at Marcy Mortuary in Ashland, NE. Interment with Military Honors at Ashland Cemetery.
