EOC Glenn “Ed” Carter Jr.

EOC Glenn “Ed” Carter, Jr., (USN Retired), passed away on July 19, 2022 in Gulfport. He was born in Springfield, IL to Glenn E. Carter Sr. and Mary McCartney Carter.

Ed enlisted in the United States Navy in 1959 after graduating from High School, and retired in 1985. During his service he was stationed in USS Valley Forge, NAS Guantanamo Bay Cuba, USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, MCB Seven Davisville RI (deployed twice to Vietnam), PWC Guantanamo Bay, PWC Great Lakes IL, NAF Sigonella Sicily, MCB Sixty Two Gulfport MS, NCTC Gulfport MS, NS Guantanamo Bay, and NCTC Gulfport MS.

After his military service he worked at NCTC and DRD in Gulfport as an instructor. He stayed as a resident of Gulfport and attended St. John’s Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents (listed above); and sister, Debbie Patterson.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda Carter of Gulfport; son, Glenn E. Carter III of Gulfport; two grandsons, Ian Carter of Atlanta, GA, Elijah Carter of Long Beach; and nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery. At his request, no services will be held.
