Thomas P. Ward Obituary
Thomas P. Ward II, age 57 of Saranac Lake, died suddenly Tuesday, November 1 at home.
Born in Saranac Lake in 1948, he was the son of Daniel F. and Catherine (Williams) Ward.
Tom was a 1966 graduated of SLHS and a veteran of Vietnam serving in the Navy Seabees.
He worked construction for Torrington in Plattsburgh and later for the Village of Saranac Lake.
He worked in the family business, the Thomas P. Ward Real Estate and Insurance Agency, for ten years. In 1979 he opened Saranac Lake Discount Liquor which he has operated for the past 26 years. He was involved in civic affairs and was a Town of Harrietstown Councilman for several years, and a Village of Saranac Lake Trustee. He was a member and former chairman of the Harrietstown Democratic Committee and had been a member of the Village Democratic Committee. Tom was also involved with the Saranac Lake Civic Center and Pee Week Hockey Association and was a member of the American Legion and Saranac Lake Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Susan Boula; a son Thomas O. Ward of Savannah, GA, a daughter Colleen Burnah and her husband Joey of Bloomingdale, two grandchildren, one step-grandchild, two sisters, three brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will take place Friday, Nov. 4 at the Fortune Keough Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9.
A mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, November 5 at 11:15 a.m. St. Bernard’s Church with a reception to follow at the SL Fish and Game Club.
Friends wishing to remember Tom may make memorial contributions to the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad, the Pee Wee Hockey Association or Saranac Lake Adult Center.
