William Brace Obituary
Our fellow brother, Bill, passed peacefully last month. He is in his God’s capable hands along with his loved ones in spirit, who preceded him. He is survived by many family members and his friends, brothers and sisters in the AA Fellowship as well as countless others during his life journey of over ninety-one years.
As the old saying goes, Bill had a good run. A native son of Maud, OK, Bill had a colorful life as a Navy Seabee, actor and stuntman. Once retired from the Navy, he worked in the movie business for thirty-five years as a stuntman coordinator and director, and for some time, was also a Diver for Scripps Institute. He said his life as a stuntman and body double were wonderful years.
Bill was a longtime resident of San Diego. He also owned property in and around Red Lodge, Montana. He loved spending time up at his Montana home. During his time in Montana, he also became a Hay Broker and supplied Timothy Hay for the thoroughbred racehorses at the Del Mar Racetrack.
Bill was a kind, loving and generous man. Bill’s life changed in many ways on November 4, 1968, when he became a full-time member of AA receiving full-time benefits living a sober life to the end, marking fifty-four years of continuous sobriety.
Bill’s last years were spent in Lakeside, CA. He resided in a golf course community and he became an avid golfer. Many of us had the opportunity of playing golf with Bill. He could drive the ball and he could putt. So many good memories.
Please come and join us to celebrate the life and love of a proud member of AA, our brother Bill on June 20, 2023 from 2pm – 5pm, at Admiral Baker Field Clubhouse Building 3604, 2400 Admiral Baker Road, San Diego CA 92120.
