Norman Delane Davis, 88, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at his home. The son of Lester and Celia Thompson Davis, he was born May 22, 1932, in Russellville.

He married Wanda Earlene Jones Davis, on Nov. 3, 1995, in Russellville. Norman’s 24-year military career spanned two wars, Korea and Vietnam, with service in both the US Army National Guard and the United States Navy Seabees.

Working with I Corp, operating heavy equipment in the jungles of Phu Bai, Vietnam he received the Navy Combat Action Ribbon, several Unit Commendation Ribbons, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star.

Norman retired from the Navy in 1972, and will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Rogers-Rye Post 2283 and The American Legion.

Norman was a member of the South New Hope Assembly of God where he served as deacon, usher and groundskeeper.

He enjoyed hunting, travel, church, playing bingo at the Senior Center and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Joyce Elaine Davis; daughter, Melissa Wimbush; grandson, Alexander Wimbush; brother, James Carol Davis; sister, Norma Ruth Morris.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda Earlene Davis of Russellville; two sons, Phillip Davis (Sandy) of Eagle River, Alaska; Anthony Davis (Linda) of Russellville; a daughter, Vickie Crowell of Russellville; a brother, Jimmy Davis (Lynn) of Pottsville; grandchildren, Ethan Walters (Meghan) of Salt Lake City, Utah; Hannah Wright (Theo) of Russellville; Heather Mitzel of Eagle River, Alaska; great-grandchildren, Elyse and Ely Mitzel; Bella Standard; Rowan and Luna Wright; four step-daughters, Billie Johnston (Ray) of Little Rock; Janis Duvall (Paul Wayne) of Atkins; Judy Maston (Michael) of Russellville; Connie Holstein (Brian) of Belleville; a step-son Van Page of Lamar; numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at South New Hope Assembly of God. Rev. Janis Duvall and Rev. Norman Chenowith will officiate.

Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery in Pottsville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Rogers-Rye Post No. 2283.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
