Obituary for Jerry Lynn Markham
Services for Jerry Lynn Markham, 77, of Tyler will be held on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Herb Bryant and Rev. Butch Ikels officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Markham passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 in Tyler. He was born February 18, 1942 in Rush Springs, OK to Prince and Erma Lou Markham.
He graduated from GED plus and attended Odessa Junior College part-time. He held the position of Chief Petty Officer when he retired after 22 years in the Navy Seabees including 3 tours in Vietnam. He worked for West Texas State School for boys in Pyote. He also worked for Turner Bit Service, Chief Transport, Moore Transport and then retired as Maintenance Foreman with Ward County, all in Monahans.
Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.O. and Mary Turner, W.T. and Samantha Jane Markham; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie Markham and wife Karin Markham Raper.
He is survived by his loving family including wife, LaNell Markham of Tyler; sons, Jay Robey of Lafayette, IN, Jody Markham of Princeton and Jason Markham and wife Angela of Frisco; sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Herb Bryant of Tyler; brother and sister-in-law, Marvin Markham and wife Peggy of San Antonio; and sister, Len Markham of Lubbock; grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, and Amber Robey, Tanner, Megan and Morgan Markham, Camden and Taylen Markham; great-grandchildren, Jordan Phillips, Jakob Shackleford, Easton Bray, Brandon Temblador and Elizabeth Reed. Jerry is also survived by 11 nephews and nieces and their children and grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Bryant, Rodney Markham, Clint Markham, Cole Markham, Horace Robb, and Edward Wertz. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Bortz, David Bryant, Melvin Craft, Keith Ikels, Ronnie Moore, Jay Nelson, Jack Stephens, Bryant Watson and Paul Watson.
Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler.
