McHenry, Mississippi – Hobert Earl Kees, Jr.,age 70, of McHenry, passed away on August 27, 2021.
He was born on November 11, 1950 to Imogene Holdren Kees and Hobert Kees in Charleston, WV. A native of Oak Hill, WV, Hobert served in the United States Navy for 24 years, starting out as an electrician and completing his career as Command Master Chief at the Naval Construction Training Center. He had the distinct privilege to serve at Camp David under President Ronald Reagan. During his career, he earned the National Defense Medal, Presidential Service Badge, Rifle Expert, Pistol Sharpshooter, Navy Commendation medal, Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, and Meritorious Service Medal. Hobert enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, doing ceramics, and woodworking. He was also known to be an avid DIY’er.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Hobert is survived by his loving spouse of 51 years, Gayle Kees; children, Brian Kees (and his fiance’ Katie) of Gulfport, and Bradley Kees (and his wife Kelly) of Charlotte, NC; siblings, Victor Lee (and his wife Judy Kay) of Cottageville, SC; grandchildren, Dustin Kees, Hannah Kees, Abigail Kees, and Natalie Kees.
He was a devoted member of O’Neal Road Church of Christ, Gulfport.
Visitation will be held at Riemann Family Funeral Homes, Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 am.
Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
