Final Salute

Cecil L. Ownby, age 85, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021. He served his country in both the Army and Navy in both peacetime and active duty. Cecil was a longtime member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He was a certified expert mechanic for his whole life ending his career at Harry Lane Chrysler in 1994.
Preceded in death by his father, Charles Cecil Ownby and his mother, Lena McMahan Wright; and brothers, Dennis Ownby and Melvin Ownby.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenna L. Ownby; children, Tammy (David) Knight, Carol (Steve) Miracle and Cecil E. (Lisa) Ownby; grandchildren, Dewayne (Jenny) Perry, April (Ron) Wireman, Travis Perry, Ryan Perry, Kelly (Jon) Simonian, Krista (Mikey) Shaffer and Aaron Ownby; great-grandchildren, Anna Miracle, Veronica Wireman, Kinley Perry, Kaya Perry and Link Shaffer; sister, Evelyn Moore; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 1:30 to 2:45 PM at Berry Highland Memorial, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. A Graveside service will follow at 3:00 PM officiated by Kent Williams.
