Raleigh- Alan Frost Kane, 81, passed away December 23, 2021. Alan was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Hollis Frost Kane and Bertha Ann Cesan Kane. Alan was a career Construction Mechanic Chief in the US Navy Seabees and served three tours in the Vietnam War.

Alan was well versed in traveling the globe while serving much of his life in the US Navy. During his travels, Alan had a mountain named after him in East Antarctica. Mount Kane, located at 73 degrees 58 minutes S 62 degrees 59 minutes W, was named for Alan Frost Kane who served as construction mechanic with the South Pole Station in 1964. He was a hobbyist and designer of many things. Alan designed and built multiple campers. He had a love for birds and reading science fiction novels. Alan had a stern appearance, but a true and kind heart. With his strong constitution for the rules of right and wrong, he was an honorable role model for his children. A few of his attributes were his caring soul, loving heart, and his compassionate and understanding mind.

Alan is survived by his loving wife Kathryn Kane; son Michael Kane; daughter Wendy Kane; grandchildren Erin Sexton and husband Nevin Sexton, Anna Reynolds, and Joseph Reynolds; brothers James Kane, Norman Kane, and Richard Kane; and, many cousins, nieces, and nephews..

Along with his mother and father, his brother Robert Kane preceded Alan in death.
