Final Salute

CM3 Jimmy Nathan Cherry, a resident of Prattville, AL passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 78. Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Elder John Burkett officiating. Military Honors will immediately follow the funeral service. Jimmy was born on June 24, 1947, in Dothan, AL to Carl Cherry and Polly Ann Cherry. Jimmy was a distinguished veteran and proud patriot who spent 2 years, 4 months of active service in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee. He was a member and a Deacon of Montgomery Primitive Baptist Church. He worked for Southern Bell telephone company until his retirement. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Carl Cherry, Polly Ann Glassburn and stepfather Melvin Glassburn and son, Jimmy Earl Cherry. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Velma Ann Cherry, daughter Michelle Cherry Law (Jason), sister Joy Housch, his grandchildren Kyle Cherry (Gracie), Chase Law, Great-granddaughter Alaina Cherry. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Brookside Funeral Home, Crematorium & Memorial Gardens of Millbrook, AL directing.
