BLOUNT, THOMAS J. 78, of Lemis Street, Coventry, passed away at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was the husband of Jacqueline M. (Lavoie) Blount. They were happily married for 52 years. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Joseph F. and Hilda I. (Wilkinson) Blount.

After graduating from Pawtucket Vocational School, Thomas enlisted in the United States Navy serving in the Vietnam War, and later stationed in NewFoundland. After an honorable discharge, Thomas went on to employment as a tractor-trailer truck driver for 35 years with the Teamsters Local 251. Most of those years were driving for Colfax Incorporated in Pawtucket. He retired in 2010. Thomas was a dedicated parishioner of Saints John & Paul Church.

Thomas loved spending time with his family, especially attending his two grandchildren’s soccer games. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He was a life member and past Commander of the VFW Post # 449 in West Warwick, and a member of the Anthony PNA in Coventry.

Thomas was the father of Melissa B. Mansour and her husband Michael of West Warwick. He was the grandfather of Devan and Jordan Mansour. Thomas was the brother of Hilda Lyons and the late Joseph Blount, Robert Blount and Elizabeth Brennan. Thomas is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Monday, January 13, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am in the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd.,(95/exit 18/Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am in Saints John & Paul Church. Interment with military honors, at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.
