Glen M. Ford, age 82, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025. Born on October 9, 1942, in Rockford, Glen was the beloved son of Glen Marion Ford Sr. and Violet (Himes) Ford.
A proud graduate of West High School, Class of 1960, Glen went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Navy Seabees. His dedication didn’t end there-after two years of active duty, he continued serving in the Navy Reserves for an incredible 25 years. His patriotism and deep sense of duty were always evident and remained a defining part of his character throughout his life.
In 1985, Glen married Kim Edwards, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and resilience. Glen worked for Sundstrand for 20 years as an Auditing Analyst before retiring. He also lent his talents to R.W. Liquidators, AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts, always bringing integrity and commitment to his work.
Glen was an active member of the Phantom Regiment Alumni, Booster, and served as the chairman for the annual Spook House; and a passionate supporter of music and the arts. In his free time, he found joy on the water-boating, boat racing, water skiing and drag racing were among his favorite pastimes. One of his proudest personal accomplishments was lovingly restoring his cherished 1939 Plymouth Sedan, a true labor of love.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Kim; his children, Glendia (John) Strandin and Guy (Michelle) Ford; his stepdaughter, Leah (Mitch) Micek; his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends. Glen is preceded in death by his parents; his stepdaughter, Amanda Garrison; sister-in-law, Kris Zaugg; and brother-in-law, Roland Edwards.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 10 am to 11 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main Street, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Glen’s memory to his family, for a memorial to be determined at a later date. Glen will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery with military honors.
