Robert “Bob” G. Ocock, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 16, 2025, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 79. Born on July 29, 1945, in Illinois, Bob lived a life marked by dedication to family, community, and country.

A proud Navy veteran, Bob honorably served his country twice during the Vietnam War, demonstrating unwavering courage and commitment. Following his military service, Bob applied his skills and work ethic to a career in state vehicle inspection with David’s Towning and Tires, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Family was the cornerstone of Bob’s life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and found immense joy in doing word searches and playing with his grandchildren. Bob’s warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew him, and his legacy of love endures through his family.

Bob was an active member of the Warwick Moose Lodge, D.A.V. Chapter 17 in Yorktown, and the Vietnam Veterans of America. His faith was central to his life, and he was a devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Yorktown.

Bob is preceded in death by his father Vance Ocock, mother Cora Buesing, father-in-law George Swanson, mother-in-law Marjorie Swanson, and brothers Roland, John, and George.

He is survived by his dearly loved spouse of 60 years, Maribeth Ocock; his children Krista Vance and Trina Shipley (Earnest); his grandchildren Robert Goldstein, Robert Kohler, Branden Kohler, Justin Shipley, and Racheal Fick; and his great-grandchildren Chloe, Addison, Parker, Mason, Charlotte, Kameron, Vera, Dakota, Jaxson, and Lincoln.

A memorial service for Bob will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Yorktown at a later date.

The Ocock family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their condolences and support. Bob will be greatly missed, and his memory will remain a blessing to all who knew him.
