Edward C. Thompsett
Clinton Corners – On Wednesday, December 8th, 2021, the Thompsett family lost its Hero and Patriarch. Edward Charles Thompsett died with his beloved wife Maryann and his sons by his side.
Edward was born on August 9th, 1945 in Newark, NJ. The second youngest of six. As a child, Edward had an affinity for automotive, heavy equipment and mechanic work, to which he excelled. This early experience gave him an advantage when he enlisted in the United Staes Navy as a Navy Seabee in 1961. Edward served his country proudly for 32 years with two tours in Vietnam. His commitment to a life of service continued with 35 years in the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department and as a former member or the Nine Partners Lions Club. Edward continued to work in the automotive industry as a Warranty Administrator for Kingston Volkswagen. His work ethic and devotion to family was unfettered.
Though Edward grew up in the city, he enjoyed his rural home where he developed a love/hate relationship with mowing the lawn. Edward had a passion for Golden Oldies Rock & Roll and was an amazing and accomplished drummer. Beginning at an early age, he competed in the Drum and Bugle Corp. His passion as a musician couldn’t even be restrained, as he still competed with a broken and casted wrist when he was twelve. While in the Navy, he created a band called, ‘The Lively Ones’. He also played in multiple bands in the 1960’s and has passed that musical talent onto his children and grandchildren. Edward was a Legend on roller skates, which earned him the nick name ‘Fast Eddie’ (known in three counties). He competed in many Roller Derbies and later worked part time as a Skate Guard. He was no stranger to displaying his tricks and skillset in the rink well into his late 60’s. Edward was an honest and simple man who had an endearing sense of humor, a willingness to help those in need and appreciated all the small things in life. A Rutt’s Hut Ripper, Thistle’s Fish & Chips, a bowl of ice cream, and a good action flick with his boys at his side were all considered complete bliss in his book.
Edward is predeceased by his parents; Frank and Florence, his brothers; Richard (survived by his spouse, Linda and children, Wayne and Linda Jean, and grandchildren; Emma and Connor ) and Billy (survived by his daughter June Ann and grandchildren). He is survived by his sisters; Emily, Shirley and Sandy, his wife; Maryann, his sons; Edward Jr. and his wife Seprena. David and his wife Ula. His grandchildren; Cody, Andrew, Madison, Liam, and Selma. His great grandchildren; Jayse, Jocelyn, and Charlie. And special recognition to Dave Kinsley and spouse, Daryll. Dan Kinsley and spouse, Stephan and many nieces and nephews, friends and family who all loved him dearly and held him in the highest regard.
There will be no calling hours, and a Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am Saturday, December 11th at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Pleasant Valley, NY (COVID restrictions will be adhered to). The family will have a Celebration of Life for Edward on Saturday, August 6th 2022. so that friends and family from near and far will be able to attend.
