Final Salute

Benny Thomas Sutton, 75, of Elizabethtown passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Adrain Sutton and Eloise Bordeaux Sutton.
Benny leaves behind his adoring wife, Vickie Gail Sutton of Elizabethtown, who he was married to for 54 years; one son, Billy Thomas Sutton; two sisters, Lynda Potter and Doris Anderson.
Benny was a loving husband, father, son, and brother who loved his family, his dog, and his country. He served in active duty in the Navy Seabees and in the Navy Reserves for 21 years. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation after 23 years of service. When younger, Benny loved working on cars or anything with a motor with his daddy which instilled his love for becoming a career mechanic in the military and his civilian employment. He loved watching old westerns and Star Trek episodes which drove the rest of his family crazy. Benny loved the weekly tradition of watching NASCAR races with his sister, Doris. His beautiful blue eyes, wonderful smile, and the smell of his British Sterling cologne will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends for a wake and visitation on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on April 13, 2023 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home to be followed by a graveside military burial at the Sutton Family Cemetery located at Suttons Corner at the intersection of Hwy 701 and Hwy 53, Elizabethtown, NC.
