Michael J. Klubek Sr., age 78, of Shelton, CT entered into eternal rest on December 5, 2024. He is the devoted husband of 38 years to Jerrilyn Gildea Klubek. He was born in Bridgeport on November 5, 1946. Son of the late Stanley Klubek and Ruth (Sturges) Shuster and his late stepfather Bruno Shuster who raised him after his father passed away at a young age. A graduate of Bullard-Havens (1965), Mike was a lifelong valley resident. Mike spent years as a truck driver then mechanic and later the Maintenance Manager with the Greater New Haven Transit until his retirement. He was a Navy SEABEE Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member and past Commander of the American Legion John H. Collins Post #24 Derby, a member of the Catholic War Veteran St. Michael Post and a long time member of the CT Motor Transport Association. Mike loved the game of golf and was an avid golfer who was a multi year champion at Great Hill Country Club. His hobbies included working on and driving antique cars, model trains, the annual pilgrimage to The Adirondack Nationals Car Show in Lake George and, most of all, his beloved John Deer tractor. Mike (PopPop) cherished his time watching the grandkids playing in the yard, swimming and diving in the pool, and especially racing around the yard in the golf cart.
He is the beloved father of Michael J. (Lynn) Klubek Jr., Jami Lynne Klubek, Thomas (Erin) Walsh, Sean (Michelle) Walsh, Shannon Walsh. He is the loving grandfather of Samantha Klubek, Sarah Walsh, Chloe Walsh, Ryann Walsh, Raegan Walsh, Cameron Wallace and Lucas Bordoy. Brother of Joseph Klubek, William Klubek, Joseph Shuster, Kathryn Reyes and Julie Klubek. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother John Shuster.
Friends may call on Thursday December 12, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 11 am.
