Final Salute

Robert T. (Bob) Schulze, 90, of Brookfield, beloved husband to the late Carolyn Paulis Schulze, passed away at Danbury Hospital on August 25, 2023. Robert was born on July 5, 1933 in Plymouth, to the late Paul Otto Schulze and Gertrude Fischer Schulze.
Bob graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School. He retired from Southern New England Telephone in 1987, after 35 years of service. He served 34 years in the United States Naval Reserve (Seabees) from 1951-1985. He very much lived the Seabees “Can Do” motto. He enjoyed NASCAR Races with any winning Ford as his favorite. After retiring from SNET, Bob enjoyed meeting his fellow retirees for weekly early morning walks and coffee at the Danbury Fair Mall, often followed by lunch at JK’s.
When his grandsons were born, Bob got a new job as a proud and doting grandfather. Affectionately called Bob (instead of Grampie) by Spencer and Tyler, he could be seen at every Quinnipiac XC Race or track meet finish line, cheering on the boys. He was arguably their biggest fan, supporting them through middle school, high school and college. He never missed a meet!
Bob will be dearly missed by his son, Michael Schulze, and daughter, Pamela Mannion, his grandsons, Spencer Mannion and wife Emma, and Tyler Mannion and girlfriend Allison Abramski. He is also survived by his sister, Anita Polubinski, and sister-in-law, Gertrud Hahn Schulze, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Rev. Paul E. Schulze, Gertrude Newton Tilton, Walter J. Schulze and Irene Erhardt.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Brookfield. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Bob was fascinated by the human body and its workings. He always felt there was much to learn in studying the body. In accordance with Bob’s longtime wish, his body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift Program for the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University for medical education and research.
