DENNIS MICHAEL SHEWELL Dennis M. Shewell, 77, of Kailua, HI, passed away suddenly on Feb. 26, 2025. He was born on Sept. 8, 1947, in Rutland, VT, to Walter & Jean Shewell. He graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy, Rutland, VT, in 1965 & immediately joined the Navy, with an honorable discharge in 1968. He met & married his wife in 1970 & lived in Somersworth NH. They moved to Hawaii in 1973. Dennis enlisted in the Navy Reserves (Seabees) until his retirement in 1995 as a Construction Electrician Chief/E-7. In 1973 he was also employed by Public Works, Pearl Harbor, as an electrician, transferring to the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, retiring in 2008 as the Electric Shop Supervisor. Dennis was a loving husband, dad, grandpa & p?pere. He is survived by his wife of 54 yrs, Pamela (Lanoie) Shewell, 2 sons – Jeffrey (Desiree) Shewell of Novi, MI, & Stephen (Diann) Shewell of Wiesbaden, Germany. He has 5 grandchildren – Ellison Shewell, Graelyn Shewell, Cooper Cheng, Alayna Lafrance, and Shailee Shewell, a brother Lawrence (Sherry) Shewell of Bigelow, Arkansas, sisters-in-law – Patricia Blanchette of Honolulu, HI, Roseanne Lanoie of Berwick, ME, Palma Cardinal of Farmington, NH, nieces, nephews & cousins in Rutland & Bennington, VT. Dennis was an avid fan of the Corvette & was an active member & past President of the Corvette Club of Hawaii. He would talk with anyone about Corvettes, and, especially about the four he owned. He bragged that the last one he bought was #19! His wit & keen sense of humor made him a favorite member of the club. He always had a funny story to tell about one of his many Corvettes. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at the Oahu Veterans Center located at 1298 Kukila Street, Honolulu, HI, from 4-8pm, Sullivan Hall. Inurnment at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery located at 45-349 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, HI on Wednesday, July 16 at 1pm. The Corvette Club of Hawaii will be doing a remembrance cruise on Sunday July 13. Arrangements Provided By: Oahu Mortuary
