Billy Clyde Millican passed away at his home in Hattiesburg MS, on the 31st of August. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Joel Millican and Maude Langston Millican. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Correll Hill Millican and his three step-children: Donna Walker (Don) of Bridgewater VA; Rosemary Self (Guy) of Lexington MS; Danny Hill (Ginny) of Starkville MS and four step-grandchildren. Billy is also survived by two brothers: Thomas J Millican (Colette) of San Antonio TX; Jimmy Millican (Dwight) of Pensacola FL; and one sister, Nancy Millican King (Harvey) of Selma AL and two nieces, 4 nephews and several great nieces and nephews. Billy was fondly referred to as ‘Pop Pop’ by his three step-grandboys of Starkville MS. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile and his eagerness to work with and for his fellow Veterans. Billy was an active member of the American Legion Post 24 and the VFW Post 3036, both of Hattiesburg MS. He loved his country and was very proud to be a Veteran helping his fellow Service Men. Billy was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the Navy Seabees for over 20 ears. during that time, he received a military education in Construction Electrician Class ‘J’ School. He received the following medals and ribbons during his 20 years of service: National Defense Service Medal Vietnam Service Medal Vietnam Campaign Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation Meretorious Unit Commendation Navy Unit Commendation Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3) Expert Rifle Medal Navy ‘E’ Ribbon Naval Expeditionary Medal Combat Action Ribbon Navy Achievement Medal RUN Armed Forces Gallentory Cross M16 Rifle Marksman (3 awards) A Memorial Service will be held on October 17, 2020, at the VFW Post on 210 Ronie Street at 1 o’clock PM in Hattiesburg MS.
