Lee Andrew Sollenberger, 72, passed away on January 20, 2023 at his home in Exeter, NH. He was born November 24, 1950 in Chambersburg, PA, son of the late Donald Sollenberger and Christina Elizabeth (Diehl) Sollenberger.

Lee grew up in Chambersburg, PA and was one of two children in his family. He graduated from Chambersburg High School and graduated from the University of PA where he was in the ROTC program. Lee was commissioned into the United States Navy when he was 21 and he was a member of the Civil Engineer Corp. He was deployed to Beirut in 1981, where he commanded Marines there. On April 28, 1990, he married Pamela Robinson. They met on a blind date while Lee was stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. His last place being stationed was Port Huene in California and in 1993, he was honorably discharged from the Navy retiring after 21 years of service. Lee earned a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in environmental science from the University of Findley. In 1993, Lee and Pamela moved to York Harbor, ME and then eventually to their current home in Exeter. Professionally, Lee went into the architectural field for private schools. His hobbies included studying history, taking trips and travelling to Europe several times, dancing and listening to music.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Sollenberger, daughter, Lauren Thibado and her husband, Jon, step-daughter, Laura Coward and her husband, Steve, step-daughter, Kara Tompkins and her husband, Shaun, 5 grandchildren, Kaylee, Ashley, Kelsey, Dean, Payton, brother, Craig Sollenberger and his wife, Helen, nephew, Craig Sollenberger and his wife, Katie, niece, Catherine Dobiesz and her husband, Jordan.

There are no calling hours.

A service in the spring will be held at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to any environmental group of your choice.
