Commander
David Mayor Feinman, beloved father, family member and friend, died Friday, June 27, 2025, at his home, aged 101. A longtime resident of Potomac, MD, David was born May 25, 1924, in Philadelphia, PA to Eva (Singer) and Abraham Feinman. David joined the US Navy in 1942 at age 18, serving in Italy and North Africa, and, among other postings, worked as a SeaBee at both the Panama Canal and the South Pole, Antarctica (3 “summers” overseeing construction in Operation Deep Freeze 4). David retired from service in 1967 with the rank of Commander having served in WWII, through Korea and Vietnam. Under the GI Bill he graduated from Yale (BE, EE 1948), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (BCE 1953), and Princeton (MCE, 1962), working professionally as a Civil and General Engineer. David lost his first and second wives, Laura London Feinman and Susan Ellmann Feinman, to cancer. He is survived by two daughters, Abigail Stocks of Tucson, AZ and Elizabeth (Feinman) London of New York City, and one granddaughter, Katie Lynn Stocks (US Army veteran). David was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with military honors. Donations can be made in his memory to WETA (or your local PBS station).
