Commander Daniel Albert Regan, 70, U. S. Navy, Retired, husband of Cynthia J. Regan of Beaufort, SC, died Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at his residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1:00pm at Beaufort National Cemetery with military honors.
Dr. Regan was born on July 4, 1953 in Munich, Germany. He was the son of Margaret Ellen Tweedy Regan and the late Herman Daniel Regan, Jr.
Dr. Regan proudly lived and served his country with Honor, Courage, and Commitment for 32 years in clinical dentistry (D.M.D., University of Louisville), B.S. (Georgetown College, Georgetown, Kentucky) and Advanced Clinical Program in General Dentistry (Naval Dental Center, Norfolk, Virginia). He held professional memberships in the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Louisiana Dental Society, Low Country Dental Study Club, and Association of Military Surgeons of the United States.
His senior level clinical management included serving as the Operative Dentistry Department Head for the BISOG Dental Detachment at the Recruit Dental Clinic at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island,SC, (3 yrs), Director, Dental Department, Naval Health Clinic, Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland (2 yrs), Director, Dental Department, Naval Health Clinic, Naval Construction Battalion Center, Gulfport Mississippi (3 yrs) and during this time coordinated recovery efforts with military and civilian personnel during the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. He was a SEABEELANT Dental Officer (3 yrs) and coordinated all dental operations in SEABEE Battalions east of the Mississippi. As an Officer in Charge of Alpha Dental Platoon, 12th Dental Company, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C. he led over 20 personnel during a combat tour in Iraq. His commissioned ship duties included serving as the Prosthetic Department Head upon the USS Saratoga (1993-1994) and Dental Department Head upon the USS New Orleans (1986-1988).

Surviving in addition to his wife, Cynthia and his mother, Margaret; are his stepchildren, Eric Robbins(Lyndi) and Kimberly Mock (Richard); one grandchild, Hayden Mock and one brother, David William Regan (Leslie) ; nieces Melanie and Jenny Regan.
