Franklin D Pierce, 89, of Kenton passed away on January 18th, 2024, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Frank was born on October 23,1934 in Kenton, TN to Betty and Earl Pierce. He attended Mason Hall School.
He enlisted in the Navy and served during the Korean War with 3 of his brothers as “Seabees” from 1953-1957. Frank specialized as a heavy equipment operator while serving in the military also.
Frank married the love of his life, Charlotte Jane Shannon, May 5, 1958.They had two daughters, Rita Ann Pierce Cooper and Sharon Kaye Pierce Page. During the earlier years of their marriage, they resided in Chicago, IL; Warren, MI; Southaven, MS, but the best years were in Mason Hall when they returned back to his hometown where he enjoyed the finer things of life, farming and enjoying the slower pace. They were members of Main Street Church of Christ from 1977-2017 where Frank was an elder for a period of time. They enjoyed team driving together from 1987-2006 and would visit Yorkville Elementary School for the Trucker Buddy Program to let the children look through the truck and explain what everything was for. Frank and Charlotte
retired from trucking in 2006.
Frank is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Shannon Pierce, Daughters, Rita Pierce Cooper (Mark) of Union City; Sherry Pierce Page of Trimble. 5 Grandchildren Amanda Dawkins (BJ) of Union City, Trae Page of Kenton, Alex Page (Jordan) of Kenton, Shannon Williams (CJ) of Union City, Sage Cooper (Alyson) of Union City. 7 Great Grandchildren Logan Dawkins, Alex Page II, Camden Dawkins, SarahJane Williams, Graham Cooper, Greer Cooper, and Grey Page. Brother Polk Pierce of Olive Branch, MS, and Sister-in-law Ruth Long Pierce of Mountain Home, AR. Frank was preceded in death by his siblings Harry Badger, Earl Pierce Jr. Edward Pierce, Sherrill Pierce, Janett Pierce King (Hayden), and Brenda Pierce Kasun (Tommy), Sister-In-Law Joann Shannon Pierce, and Son-In-Law Larry Page II.
Funeral Services will be at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern on Tuesday, January 23rd, 2024. Officiating this service will be Bro. Mike Prestininz. Visitation will be at 11:00 and Funeral will be at 1:00. Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery in Kenton.
