ROWE, Harry Craig Died June 12, 2003 at the age of 94 at the Spring Lake Village retirement complex in Santa Rosa. Husband of the late Grace Malley Rowe and son of Harry Gerald and Florence Rowe. He was born in Grass Valley, CA and attended elementary and high schools in Nevada City, CA. He was a 1931 engineering graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and one of the first Naval ROTC students there. He worked on construction of the San Francisco Bay Bridge and on many highways in the San Francisco region. He was called to active duty in the U.S. Navy in 1940 and served many places, including Londonderry, Ireland, Port Hueneme, CA, London, England and Tsingtao, China. He retired in 1970 with the rank of Captain in the Civil Engineer Corps. Since then he has lived in Santa Rosa. A volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America and a member of the Church of the Incarnation, the Retired Officers Association, and the Mens’ Garden Club of Santa Rosa. He is survived by his son, Edward Rowe of Overland Park, KS, his daughter, Mary Rowe Whitmore of Las Vegas, NM, a nephew, Donald Rowe of Lakewood, CO, a niece, Elizabeth Burke, of Ventura, CA, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003 at the chapel at Spring Lake Village. An inurnment service will be held at a later date at the Church of the Incarnation.
