Captain
David was born in Los Angeles. He spent his pre school years in LA & San Gabriel until his family moved to Ontario. CA. David entered school at San Antonio Elementary. vvhere he met Bette in 1st grade. After completing 6th grade. Dave’s father enrolled him in Chino schools. At Chino High School Dave’s grades were outstanding while he was active in sports – Varsity football & baseball. After graduation, Dave began college at Chaffey Jr. College. As a sophomore Dave transferred to the University of California at Berkeley. Bette attended Cal as well. At the end of their Junior year they were married. Concerned about being drafted before he graduated from Cal. Dave enlisted in the Navy in Feb. 1963. Shortly after graduation Dave reported to the Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport. Rl. He graduated 4 months later as an Engineer Corps Officer School Corps. A month later he was ordered to the Civil Engineer Corps Officer School in Port Hueneme. CA. He completed the course and was ordered to serve at the Naval Shipyard in Long Beach, CA. In 1978 Dave was promoted to Commander and joined the Regional Wartime Construction Manager under Commander in Chief U.S Naval Forces Europe in 1984. Dave was promoted to Captain. Dave’s last Navy assignment was as Chief of Staff for the first Naval Construction Brigade. Dave’s Navy career sent him to several U.S. states as well as Europe. Asia, and Central America. Dave retired from the Navy after 31 years of service to the Navy and his Country. All during his naval career. as a civilian Dave first worked as a Civil Engineer for the Metropolitan Water District in charge of building a multi story building in downtown LA. a parking structure and an underground reservoir. While working as an engineer, Dave attended law school at night. After passing the Bar Exam, he was hired by a local law firm and focused on construction and shopping center cases. Eventually Dave opened his own law office. After practicing law for years, Dave decided to go back to Civil Engineering and work on the Diamond Valley Lake near Hemet. Dave and Bette had two daughters. Keri and Sharmane. They have four grandchildren, Sam, Kat, Kaitlin, and Shayne. Dave enjoyed many enjoyable years with his family and friends.
