Dan Lee Simmons, 76, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 17, 2024. He was born in Delaware, Ohio, on July 27, 1947, son of the late Earl Simmons and Esther Robinson Weller. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol L. (Adkins) Simmons; his son, Kurtis L. (Sandy) Simmons and daughter, Amanda J. (Corey) Mays; and their five grandchildren, Austin Simmons, Elise Mays, Rebekah Simmons (fiancé, Zachary Deaney), Gavin Mays and Curtis “CJ” Simmons.
Dan graduated from Buckeye Valley High School in 1965. He then joined the Navy Seabees and Seabees 128 where he served two tours in Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Carol, on December 3, 1966. Dan was an active member of The Old Stone Presbyterian Church of Delaware, Ohio where he served as deacon, trustee and elder over the years. He also loved going on mission trips and helping anyway he could. He cherished time with his family and loved to play “Adkins” Rummy. Dan loved to talk to anyone who would listen for as long as you would let him. He was also a business owner for 27 years of Simmons Excavating & Enterprises.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, from 5:30 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 23, 2024, with an hour of gathering prior from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M., at Old Stone Presbyterian Church, 41 Hodges Road, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Interment will follow at Bokes Creek Cemetery, Ostrander, Ohio. Pastor Doug Browne officiating.
